Profile Information:

• Basic details: Name, age, location, photos
• Preferences: Dating preferences, lifestyle habits, interests
• Optional information: Education, job, bio, prompts
• Verification data: A verification selfie, profile photos used for comparison, facial detection and similarity information produced during verification, and verification status and related records

Usage Information:

• App interactions: Swipes, matches, messages, time spent
• Device information: Device type, operating system, app version
• Location data: General location for matching (with your permission)
• Performance data: Crashes, errors, loading times

AI and Matching Data:

• Profile content for AI matching (bio, interests, preferences only)
• Behavioral patterns: Your swiping patterns and preferences
• Compatibility metrics: How our AI assesses potential matches
• Interaction history: Success rates and engagement patterns

Legal Basis for Collection:

• Verifying user authenticity and photos using a selfie-to-profile-photo comparison through AWS Rekognition, with Google/Firebase providing backend processing

Service Improvement:

• Understanding how users interact with Joon Dating
• Testing new features and improvements
• Analyzing trends and usage patterns (anonymized)
• Providing customer support through Firebase

AI Enhancement:

• Processing profile information for better match suggestions
• Learning from user preferences to improve recommendations
• Analyzing compatibility factors for quality matches

What We Collect:

• When you choose photo verification, we process a still selfie and existing profile photos selected for comparison. We do not access Apple Face ID templates or require verification video recording.
• During processing, face detection may produce face locations, landmarks, pose and image-quality measures, detection confidence, similarity results, and moderation results.
• We may keep verification status and associated operational records, such as when verification occurred and whether it succeeded or failed.

Why We Use It:

• To compare a submitted selfie with profile photos, reduce impersonation and fraudulent profiles, check for inappropriate images, and display verified status or determine access to verification-dependent features.
• Photo verification is separate from OpenAI-based compatibility matching. We do not use verification selfies for advertising or general AI matching.

Service Providers and Processing Locations:

• Google/Firebase receives verification images through our cloud functions and handles verification records and, where applicable, image storage. Our verification cloud functions operate in the US-central1 region. The physical locations of related storage and database services depend on their configured locations.
• AWS Rekognition receives selfie and comparison-image data to perform face detection, comparison, and content moderation. Our AWS Rekognition processing is configured in the US-east-1 region.
• We do not sell verification face data. Service providers may process information under their applicable agreements, policies and service settings.

Storage, Retention and Deletion:

• We process verification images for the time necessary to complete verification. Approved selfie images may also be retained in our controlled cloud storage, depending on the verification flow used for your account.
• Verification status and related account records may be retained while your account remains active or as necessary for security and account management.
• You can request removal of verification data or delete your Joon account. Our account deletion process is designed to remove account-owned verification images and related account records from active app storage. Some backup, log, or service-provider records may be retained for limited periods under applicable service policies or legal requirements.
• We do not promise immediate erasure of every copy held by infrastructure or service providers. Contact privacy@joondating.app for questions about a specific deletion request or the retention applied to your verification data.

Choice and Consent:

• We present a verification disclosure and seek your consent before beginning optional selfie verification and transferring the selfie for processing.
• If you decline verification, you may be unable to use features that require a verified profile. You may withdraw consent or request deletion by contacting privacy@joondating.app or using available in-app controls.

Other Photo Processing:

• Profile photos uploaded during onboarding or profile updates may separately be screened for inappropriate content using AWS services, even when you do not request selfie verification.

What Our AI Actually Does:

Our artificial intelligence technology uses OpenAI's GPT-4o mini to analyze your profile information for better matching:

• AI processes your bio, interests, and preferences to understand compatibility
• AI matches you with people who have similar values and relationship goals
• AI helps filter potential matches based on personality compatibility
• AI learns from your swiping patterns to improve future suggestions

What AI NEVER Accesses:

• Your private messages or conversations (AI never reads chats)
• Your photos or images for OpenAI-based matching. Separately, AWS Rekognition processes photos for verification and content moderation, as explained in “Photo Verification and Face Data.”
• Your location data or GPS coordinates
• Your contact information or phone data
• Any other users' personal conversations

Data Processing with OpenAI:

• Only profile information (bio, interests, preferences) is processed
• Processing happens securely through OpenAI's GPT-4o mini API
• OpenAI handles the profile information shared with its API subject to applicable service terms and retention controls
• All processing follows OpenAI's privacy and security standards
• Data is encrypted during transmission and processing

Your Control:

• You can disable AI matching in Settings > Privacy > AI Matching
• You can delete your profile data at any time
• AI recommendations can be turned off without affecting other features
• Where required, we request consent for optional data processing

OpenAI Integration:

• We use OpenAI's GPT-4o mini model for compatibility analysis
• OpenAI processes data according to their privacy policy
• The use and retention of information by OpenAI depend on the API service terms and configuration applicable to our account

We use the following third-party services to provide and improve Joon Dating:

Google Firebase:

• Purpose: Data storage, user authentication, analytics, cloud messaging
• Data Shared: Profile information, usage analytics, device identifiers, verification selfies and associated verification records handled through Firebase services

Amazon Web Services (AWS):

• Purpose: Content moderation, image verification, safety checks
• Data Shared: Verification selfies and selected profile images for face comparison, face detection and image moderation; other images as needed for safety checks

OpenAI (ChatGPT GPT-4o mini):

• Purpose: AI-powered matching algorithm, profile compatibility analysis

Apple Services:

• Purpose: Push notifications, in-app purchases, App Store services
• Data Shared: Device tokens, purchase receipts, app usage metrics

Each service has their own privacy policies and security standards. Provider processing and retention may also be governed by their own published policies and agreements.

We use cloud-provider security features, application access controls, and encrypted connections to help protect personal information. No security measure can eliminate all risk.

Verification Image Access:

• Verification selfies are processed through our backend rather than being made publicly available as profile pictures.
• Verification status may be displayed to other Joon users as a badge. Private verification details are not intended for public display.
• Authorized personnel and service providers may access information when needed to operate, secure, support, and maintain the service.

Your Privacy Rights and Controls:

Access and Portability:

• View all personal data we have about you
• Download your data in machine-readable format
• Receive a response to applicable access requests within the period required by law
• Contact privacy@joondating.app if an in-app data export is unavailable

Correction and Update:

• Correct inaccurate or outdated information
• Update profile information anytime
• Request correction of data you cannot edit yourself
• Profile changes take effect in the app; some cached copies may take additional time to update

Deletion and Erasure:

• Delete specific pieces of information
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to limited legally required or technically necessary retention
• Ask us to address deletion requests involving service providers where applicable
• Some data may be retained for legal compliance

Control and Objection:

• Object to certain types of data processing
• Withdraw consent for optional features
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Restrict processing for specific purposes

How to Exercise Your Rights:

• Delete your account using the in-app account deletion option, or contact us for other privacy requests

• Include the email associated with your account; do not email your verification selfie or identification documents unless requested securely
